
Lightning Crops

One of my oldest lightning shots on digital. I’d shot lightning before on film, but digital introduces some interesting problems.
You can’t leave the shutter open too long, or you start getting amp glow (at least on the Nikon D80, this is a problem. It’s worse during the Arizona summer, since the air temperatures are still pretty high even as the storm approaches.)
This was out on the Fountain Hills Overlook north of Mesa, looking south from Shea Boulevard.
